Genre Research: Fast and Furious 6
Fast and Furious 6
What elements of the genre that you chose to base your final task on does this movie have?
Fast and Furious 6 has a lot of elements since it was the whole movie but not a lot of those elements are going to be on our final task since it is just an opening sequence. However, this movie and our final task share many elements in common. The elements that this movie and our opening sequence share are the key elements to an action film. The elements it had was ominous sounds, natural film lighting, over-the-shoulder angle, and the zoom movement. These elements is what made this movie so successful and rated so highly from the audience. All these elements are very important elements to an action film being exciting and eventful. Most importantly, these elements add a dramatic effect to both the film and our opening sequence which engages the audience and makes them intrigued. What elements of the genre did the movie have that you like?
We liked most of the elements in this movie. The elements we liked were the strong characters, explosions, fight scenes, and car chase sounds. The explosions and car crash scenes engaged Sonali and I attention quickly. We enjoyed watching the strong characters take action and be brave during dangerous situations. The fighting scenes were fun to watch because it was unpredictable since both the good and bad guys won during the many fight scenes. These elements add to the dramatic effect of an action film and drew our interest easily.Overall, all these elements played a role in intriguing us and keeping our attention attached to the movie which is why we liked these elements so much.
What elements of the genre did the movie have that did not appeal to you?
Most of the elements were very appealing to Sonali and I so it was hard to think about any elements that did not appeal to us. However, the elements that did not appeal to us is the betrayal between characters and the super loud car noises. The super loud noises were very unappealing because it was distracting us from enjoying the actual movie. The loud noises plus the background music was too much which distracted us from what is taking place in the specific scenes of the movie. The next unappealing element is the betrayal between the main characters. This was not very appealing because since the main characters were so close, we felt trust should have always been there. Also, the betrayal element was not needed because it had little to no impact since the betrayal was on accident and forgiven right after and did not grab neither of our attention quickly.
