Filming at Home and at a Gas Station

 Production Blog

On April 2, I started to film the scenes that take place at my house in my sister's bedroom and at the gas station. The first scene I filmed was me standing in my sister's bedroom. At first it was hard because this scene must be filmed at a close-up then a high angle. However, the close up was easy to film compared to the high angle. The close-up only took one take and it came out good. I only had to film the board with my sister's name on it so no need to direct anyone. The high angle took many takes because at first I did not know where to put the camera. Then, I eventually found the perfect spot and it only took one take at that spot. I had to tape my phone onto the fan to get the perfect shot. I was worried about it falling at first but I double taped it all around so I knew it wasn't going to. The next scene took place at a gas station. We filmed 3 different types of scenes at this setting. I was not an actress in this but Ron (kidnapper) and my sister (victim) played a part in the acting here. I was the director and Ron was the main actor so it was easy to direct. He takes instructions very easily and is good at listening so it only took us one take per scene. The first scene shows the kidnapper driving to the gas station. The camera is placed in the car on the passenger's side to show the kidnapper's expressions. The next scene will be at the actual gas station and shows the kidnapper walking towards the inside of the gas station. Then, he'll see the missing person's flyer and walk back to his car. He will speed off and this is shot as a point of view angle which will conclude the scene at that setting.
