Short Film Research - Friday Tigers by Aidee Walker (drama)
The short film is almost 17 minutes and the plot is very hard to find out. The film is not very straight forward or clearly states it's plot to the audience. It does not start with any context of what might be the plot. The scenes just go day by day and show what different things occur during the different days. The film never actually goes in debt detail about why something happen or what is the problem. It just shows the aftermath or the effects of the problems occurring in the woman's life. However, since it is drama we were expecting some type of conflict to happen in the short film. The short film consist of many sounds. Background music is played during the beginning of the film. The background music sounds like a person singing with an instrument. The noise of the train moving on the tracks is prominently loud but not too loud. Then, little sounds like the typing to text and other little sounds like that were enhanced. The costumes used for the main characters in dress to fit the occasion going on in the scene which can be casual clothing or other costumes. The actors dress casual like a shirt or blouse and jean pants. The common light editing is realistic lighting. The colors are brightly shown to capture nature's beauty. Then, the lighting gets a little darker because the day is going on and getting later so it shows the time change. Some scenes are edited in a drawing format. Those scenes are not realistic, they show a paper and a drawing acting out the scene. Then, one scene that kind of reveals the plot but not directly is when the woman is looking for her father's child and saying "you can't keep leaving us like this". This is where the drama starts because she now is screaming out her words which is a key element of the drama genre. Then, later on she gets caught kissing another man and Mike (the father's child) comes out of no where and starts fighting the guy. A lot of yelling, screaming, and fighting are occurring now. This contributes to the drama genre elements because it involves dramatic actions. The camera also zooms in on this to capture the audience attention on the drama that is occurring in that scene.
