Creative Critical Reflection

1.        How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues?

My Adidas commercial uses conventions by including active wear and sport activities which Adidas commercials always consist of. I shot this commercial in a zoom angle and used close-ups because that is the most commonly used in these type of commercials. It represents social groups by showing the different age range throughout the commercial. Also, it shows that Adidas is made for any age group, doing any activity. The social issue that is solved during this commercial is exclusion because anyone can wear Adidas.

 2. How does your product engage with audiences AND how would it be distributed as a real media text?

The commercial brings the audience's attention by having fast pace background music and straight to the point scenes. Also, the commercial has a narrator sharing motivational phrases while still engaging the audience.I would distribute this media as an ad during sports channels on television. To reach a younger audience I would distribute this commercial on YouTube during sport and active clothing haul videos.

3. How did your production skills develop throughout this project?

I've developed many different production skills. I have learned how to isolate a background sound from a video and how to add a new sound to one too. One of the most important things I learned is how to have background music while narrating a film. Moreover, I improved how to direct others to do a specific movement which helped with the production of the commercial. Most importantly, the production skill that greatly improved throughout this project  was self-restraint because of the many takes it took to get the perfect shots.

    4. How did you integrate technologies – software, hardware and online – in this project?

In this project, I used my phone to film and edit because it was the easiest to maneuver. The hardware I used to film was a tripod. The tripod helped get the high angles and the over the shoulder angle for certain scenes.I used a software called iMovie to edit the film properly. This software helped me add background music, a voiceover, and text to the commercial. Overall, both software and hardware made a big impact of the production of my commercial.
