Editing and Getting the right time -production-

Sonali and I have finally finished both filming and editing completely. The last scene that needed to be film was the kidnapper being at the gas station. On April 13, we both finished editing our parts of the opening sequence. Then, she sent her part to me and I added it to my half of the film. Now it is a full opening sequence so I sent it to her and uploaded it on Youtube. We noticed we did not need as much scenes as we thought. We ended up not needing the scenes that showed Niyah being tied up. Therefore, those props used in that scene will not be shown throughout the whole opening sequence. We actually did not film a lot of scenes that was on our storyboard. However, the storyboard was very useful for the beginning of the filming process. We did in fact use it as a guide to film the first scenes. Then, later on we freestyle or improvised on the ending scenes. While editing the sound for the scenes, we muted most of them. We add...

Meeting Up With Sonali (production)

Image
On April 11,  Sonali and I decided to meet at Starbucks. However, that plan went terribly wrong in many different ways. The first thing that went wrong is that we both went to completely two different Starbucks. Since Sonali went to the wrong one, she chose to meet me at the one I was at. It started raining super hard so it took Sonali some time to reach there. While I was waiting on her, I asked the Starbucks barista if we could sit and work at one of the tables. The barista said we could not sit in there so we had to find another place to do our editing work. Then, we both decided to just go at my house because we needed wifi and space to work immediately. Once Sonali reached Starbucks she picked me up and we went to my house to edit and film. When we finally reached we were so discouraged to do any work so we sat in the car and procrastinated. We both eventually decided its better to get the...

Editing The Opening Sequence (production)

Image
Sonali and I decided to split up the editing process of our opening sequence. This means that Sonali edits one half of the opening sequence and I edit the other half. This way we both contribute to the editing process. Also, so there will not be pressure or stress which would happen if only one person is doing all the editing. I chose to edit the ending of the sequence because it consist of most of the scenes I filmed without Sonali so it was just easier for me to edit the ending. I only have five scenes to edit so far and the hardest thing is to make sure the scenes flow. I had to switch some scenes around to make it flow better and seem more realistic. I edited the lighting in most of the scenes to fit our opening sequence genre. We have not completely finished editing because we still need to film a couple more scenes. On April 11, Sonali and I will meet up and finish filming and editing scenes. We will film the scenes that consist of the title...

Filming at Home and at a Gas Station

Image
Production Blog                   On April 2, I started to film the scenes that take place at my house in my sister's bedroom and at the gas station. The first scene I filmed was me standing in my sister's bedroom. At first it was hard because this scene must be filmed at a close-up then a high angle. However, the close up was easy to film compared to the high angle. The close-up only took one take and it came out good. I only had to film the board with my sister's name on it so no need to direct anyone. The high angle took many takes because at first I did not know where to put the camera. Then, I eventually found the perfect spot and it only took one take at that spot. I had to tape my phone onto the fan to get the perfect shot. I was worried about it falling at first but I double taped it all around so I knew it wasn't going to. The next scene took place at a gas station. We filmed 3 different types of scenes at this setting. I was ...
